Summer of Love 40 Yrs 2007

Hi Luv: This is my New Year 2007 Blog. I’m thinking of you as always, spending a quiet evening home alone, as I so like to do, especially a New Year’s Eve, always encourages me to centre, concentrate.

Here in South Africa as the year comes to an end, there is a lot of fear and uncertainty, the year 2006 now being referred to in the media as “horrificus annualis’.

And as I view the seeming hopelessness of Africans across the continent being ruled by those who don’t care for them, have no compassion, only the lust of greed and power, and money of course, I wonder, I truly wonder. There’s one exception, a woman president in that former country of horror under Charles Taylor, but she is the one exception.

However, even with the gloom, even with the 48% of all rapes being children, the 19,000 annual murder rate, still when I’m in the gardens I’m optimistic, although dubious. Perhaps this is the middle way.

I think to myself, what will the coming year bring to Africa, will there be change, will it just continue ‘daq vir daq’, same old, same old.

And then I realized, knowing that love, caring, compassion and reasonableness are so accessible, that it drew my mind to the Summer of Love, 1967, that critical pitch point, that highest most potent reproductive space to reproduce what we knew then and now, what the world needs, what we must have, and what we know must be in active in order to survive in a Global world. Our western ways deceive many of us as to the depth of suffering much of the world experiences. Isn’t this denial?

2007 is the 40th anniversary of that truly unique unfoldment. It was 2007 when consciousness peaked and then like the Queen of the Night cactus flower, retreated, subdued, became plant again, growing, waiting the next unique power moment. We retreated. Off to the land, the simple life, the study, the hard work on self.

You and I raised family; they are grown and hopefully, the hope of the world. How can a parent think otherwise. Time will tell to what degree they represent us and what success we may have attained.

I’m amazed that there has been no media about it having been now 40 years, no commercial exploitation, no pride or confidence of those who experienced it, who continued… are we so subdued, closeted, fearful?

Me, I’m going to celebrate the Summer of Love this year, the whole year. One of my friends has been going through an extremely difficult and serious period, as do we all,. Her revelations from this long and painful process, is that “all that matters is love, just love and loving”. I may add: each in our own way, some joyful, some serious, but committed.

So this is my meditation tonight luv, 2007, the 40th year, Summer of Love, and all it offers.
